M&R Detailing

Over the summer a friend and i started a small business of our own. At the time i did not have any source of income coming my way while he had already had a job. I remember him calling me asking me if i knew any thing about detailing cars. In the past i had washed my own truck and family members vehicles and that was about it. He then proceed to asked me if i wanted to start detailing vehicles with him for some extra cash on the side. At the time i did not think it was going to be that great of a challenge seeing it was just cleaning cars;however it did not turn out to be that way.  Our fist job was his parents and sisters car. He had already purchased several different cleaning supplies for us to get started. We started with his mothers car which was not to difficult due to it being fairly small.Once we finished the first car we were about 3 hrs in so we figured we would finish the rest the next day. So the next morning i went back to his house and washed his sisters car and after about another 3 hrs of cleaning I had already had enough scrubbing for the day.On the third day we were going to start washing his fathers SUV which was a lot larger than the other vehicles we had already washed. It took us around 4 hrs to clean one car. I quickly realized it was a lot harder than i thought to detail cars. There is a lot of work and detail that goes in to the interior and the exterior. At that point i started making a website at website named Weebly.com that allows you to make them for free.I put how much it cost and our location and contact information. We ended up deciding that we would name it M&R Detailing for the first letter in each of our last names. After starting a webpage i that it would be a good idea to make some business cards to hand out people after we detailed their cars to get our name out. As the summer started to end we had a few more cars that we detailed before it became to cold to do it. I'm unsure if we will pick up where we left off coming into the next summer but i hope we do.

Syrian refugees

The Paris bombings and other recent terrorist attacks have given rise to a political debate within the United States about the Obama administration’s plan to admit Syrian refugees.More than 800,000 people have crossed the Mediterranean and Aegean so far this year, fleeing war, persecution and violence in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Eritrea, and other countries.  For many, the choice to embark on such dangerous journeys seems the only way to give their children a chance of survival and safety. While more than half the nation's governors say they oppose letting Syrian refugees into their states, although the final say on this contentious immigration issue will fall to the federal government.
States protesting the admission of refugees range from Alabama and Georgia, to Texas and Arizona, to Michigan and Illinois, to Maine and New Hampshire. Among these 31 states, all but one have Republican governors.Peoples opinions in this situation can widely vary for many different reasons. I personally believe that it is wrong to oppose a safe haven for those who are trying to flee a war torn country. In 1939 and 1940, slightly more than half of all immigrants to the United States were Jewish, most of them refugees from Europe. In 1941, 45% of all immigrants to the United States were Jewish. After the United States entered the war in December 1941, the trickle of immigration virtually dried up, just at the time that the Nazi regime began systematically to murder the Jews of Europe. Despite many obstacles, however, more than 200,000 Jews found refuge in the United States from 1933 to 1945, most of them before the end of 1941.These Syrian refugees are no different than the Jewish people fleeing Nazi Germany. People who say that this opens the door for terrorist to get in, in the Paris attack that killed 128 people most of the attackers were french citizens. The people who are doing the attacks are already living in the living and have been living in our country not fleeing the country that is killing their own people. These people who are fleeing are women and children trying to survive. On the Statue of Liberty, a gift from the people of France,it says "Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free." As president Obama said "That's the spirit that makes us America. That's the spirit that binds to us France. That's the spirit that we need today".

Things in my life

These are several things in my life that i would not be able to live with out.

1)Technology- I use technology in every aspect of my life and would not be able to function with out it. My phone i use almost every second of the day as soon as i am awake i am texting till i fall asleep. My computers between my desktop and laptop i use them both for almost everything. I use my laptop for typing papers and watching movies and my desktop for gaming anything else that needs to be done.I spend almost all my free time on my computers because without cable TV i use hulu and Netflix for all my TV shows and movies. Then there is the internet the link between all of my devices. Without it all of my devices are useless to me.Without the internet i cant use my laptop to watch movies and shows with out it i cant use my desktop for games without it i cant use half of my cellphone. The internet is the core to many of my technological needs.

2) My truck is one of the most important objects in my life that i would not be able to live without. I use it to get from point a to point b and wouldn't be able to other wise. I use it to get to classes and to work. I use it to go to the store and to see my girlfriend and with out it i could not go any where.

3)My girlfriend is the most important part of my life that i could not see my self living without. She helps me with a lot of things that i couldn't do on my own. She is extremely smart and can help me with several things if i need help. For the 6 years that we have been together she does things for me that i do not notice now but if they stopped happening i would be completely lost in life.

These are the things that some may see as wants and not needs but in my life these things to me are necessity in my life and without them i would be lost. If one of these things were cease to exist i would have a hard time trying to figure out an alternative.

5B's

I started my first job a few months back working at a company named 5B's. It is a local family made business that sells clothing such as hats and t-shirts.The main factory is at airport exit in zanesville while the store is attached to the factory with a different name. The actual store is called Bware while the factory is 5B's. They also have a small store on maple ave. in Zanesville.I work in the warehouse portion of the factory. Even though i work in the 5B's warehouse and get paid by 5B's I do not work for 5B's i work for a company called Richardson's. They are a company that sells embroidered hats. Richardson pays 5B's to work in their warehouse where Richardson supplies the hats and sells them while 5B's embroideries them. Richardson is a third party retailer so other stores buy the hats and people buy the hats from the stores. My job is to ship the hats to the stores or customers. I stand at a computer for 5 hrs a day taking boxes and weighing them and putting them in the computer and printing the shipping label. I then take the boxes and stack them on skids and take them to the docks to load on to the trucks. Its kinda nice working their because they work around my class schedule and its really not that hard of a job in the first place. They pay me a decent amount to stand their and type a few things in the computer and move a few boxes. The only downside of the job is that it can get really boring really fast so sometimes i bring my head phones and just listen to music for a few hours. I like my coworkers so most of the time i just stand there and BS with them most of the time. The only thing i hate about this job is not having any free time, most of the time i have to work late because we may be backed up and need to get the shipments out that night. Other than those few things its a nice job and i actually have a descent amount of money to spend on myself. If anyone is looking for a part time job i encourage you to apply because they are always hiring new people. A few weeks ago i told a friend to apply and they hired him that day.

Muskie Born

I am currently go to Muskingum university and my plan is to major in computer science. The only difference between me and most other students is I still live at home. I went to john Glenn high school only about two miles from my college where i commute from now. I have lived in New concord for all 19 years of my life living on the same piece of land i have always known. I have been on muskingum campus more than most of the 4 year seniors have. In high school i played all 4 years of football on the same football field as the college players. Even as a young child i was on campus a lot when i used to go to the preschool where my mother worked on campus.I already know a lot of the staff on campus due to the fact that i went to school with their kids. One of my friends step dad is the chief of campus police, while another friend's mother is Janet Bass which in charge of student security matters. I have done a lot of things on muskingum campus from lifting to sled riding all which i have done on a the course of 19 years. Now that i attend muskingum as a student i can experience another side of it that i have never seen before. I am learning things about the campus and the things on it that i never thought of questioning what or why things were. I am learning the history of things that i never knew. As a student I see things I never saw before or never paid to much attention to. I always told my self I wasn't going to go to muskingum because I never wanted to stay at home. However when I got a scholarship that almost paid for my entire tuition I could not say no. While a lot of people go in to their lives with $100,000 plus debt I can get my degree with a few thousand dollars that i can pay off before i even leave college. My plan is to get my degree then find a career that i enjoy while I start my life on a fresh start.I have been a muskie my entire life since the day i was born till the day i die, i will always be a muskie.

The Threat

The Islamic State, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is a brutal Sunni Muslim terror organization that gained traction and came to prominence in 2012-2014 during and after Syria's civil war.  ISIS had close ties with Al-Qaeda until early 2014 and have made direct threats against the United States and Britain, including beheading US journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and British aid worker David Cawthorne Haines.  ISIS poses a direct threat to international safety and security, as they are the largest in land control, fighting size, and wealthiest terrorist organization in history. ISIS claims authority over all Muslims in the world and seeks to establish a Caliphate, bringing all of the Muslim inhabited regions of the world under their control.  They are an extremist group who adhere to hard-line jihadist ideology, taking influence from other groups including the grandfather of all modern terror organizations, the Muslim Brotherhood. Those who do not agree with their radical ideas about the world including fellow moderate Muslims are subject to barbarism, torture, and murder at their hands and are labelled as infidels.  According to ISIS fighters, their ideology represents "pure Islam" and embraces the very roots of the religion, shunning later changes made.  Their goal is to establish a Caliphate and a "pure Islamic state", encompassing much of the Middle East. According to a report released by the CIA on September 11, 2014, the Islamic State has between 20,000 and 31,500 fighters spread throughout the region.  This is significantly higher than the previous estimates which had placed the Islamic State military might at about 10,000 fighters.  The Islamic State experienced some battlefield successes in mid 2014 which bolstered its credibility and therefore recruitment ability, and caused their numbers to drastically inflate over a short period of time.  Despite airstrikes levied by coalition forces against the Islamic State during late 2014 and 2015, it was revealed in August 2015 that the Islamic State's recruiting efforts had effectively offset their battle casualties. As of an August 2015 assessment provided by U.S. government officials, the Islamic State still boasts a fighting force of 20,000-31,500 fighters. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel referred to the Islamic State as "an iminent threat to every interest we have, whether it's in Iraq or anywhere else" and claimed that the Islamic State is "beyond anything we have ever seen". Their most recent attacks in Paris were heard all around the world when 128 people dead were a result of one of their barbaric attacks.ISIS needs to be stopped before they can cause any more damage to this world.

Anonymous

Anonymous is the most famous ‘hacktivist’ group in the world. Anonymous originated in 2003 on the image board 4 chan, representing the concept of many online and offline community users simultaneously existing as an anarchic group. The informal nature of the group makes its mechanics difficult to define. When people have technical skills, have access to the Internet, and understand how network infrastructure and servers work, it can be tempting to put that knowledge into having some effect on the world and that's what this organizations does.Anonymous promotes free speech, unimpeded access to information, and transparency in government and corporate activities. Anonymous comprises a diverse group of individuals connecting through social networking sites, forums and blogs scattered all over the world. Although the group was initially known for online pranks, it has become more serious and political in recent years. Activities of Anonymous have included targeting the websites of organizations that it considered hostile to Wiki Leaks or its founder Julian Assange. In December 2010, Anonymous allegedly used an open source hacking program to apply denial of service attacks to PayPal servers, resulting in PayPal unavailability over a four day period. PayPal, MasterCard and Visa closed all WikiLeaks' account activities after WikiLeaks published top-secret U.S. government reports that created instant humiliation and tension with key allies. For revenge, Anonymous, who was motivated by Assange's WikiLeaks' activities, instigated DoS attacks on PayPal by flooding PayPal servers and disabling user account access. On June 17, 2015, Anonymous targeted Canadian government websites with a Dos attack in protest of the passage of bill C-51, so-called anti-terror legislation that grants additional powers to Canadian intelligence agencies, arguably infringing on the rights of citizens to privacy and freedom of speech. They have recently been in the news after declaring war on ISIS after the Paris attack starting the #OpParis campaign. The group have hackers had prior encounters with the terrorist group in January after the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris. Anonymous found a battle front that they knew best, the Internet by taking down thousands of ISIS twitter accounts/web pages. Anonymous is a vigilante group that does not obey the laws and strikes when they see fit. For these reasons governments also see the group as a threat due to the fact they don't have control over them. I feel that the group isn't harming anyone that doesn't deserve it.They fight for the people because they are the people. People don't know who they are because they are just normal people with skills in technology.
